more than just everything

2022

clothes drying rack, 2022. A cast handmade rag paper clothes drying rack that is light blue and purple is interlaced with and supported by a collapsible wooden industrially produced clothes drying rack in a room with a concrete floor and white walls.

socks to dry, 2022. Two handbuilt ceramic socks hang on a clothesline in front of a black background. The socks are mostly white but appear to be slightly stained on the bottom. There are cast handmade paper clothespins affixed to the top of each sock.

Walk Map, 2022. A detail of quilted fabric. The background is dark grey, and there are appliquéd room floor plans that are light blue, yellow, and off-white. There are also zig zagged room floor plans overlaying them, as well as machine couched embroidery floss that is gray and red and makes map-like paths.

Passing Down, 2022. A handbuilt ceramic skirt that would fit a person with about a 30 inch waist sits on the floor, supporting itself. The clay the skirt is made from is terra cotta, and is overlayed with semi-translucent majolica glaze with a blue and green floral pattern. Red ric rac rims the hem of the skirt, and a muslin men's dress shirt is sewn onto the top with pink thread. The shirt is only supported by the skirt, so it is drooping over the back.

pants on the floor, 2022. handbuilt ceramic pants that are underglazed to look extremely realistic sit on top of a six by six white quilted piece of fabric, which is on top of a concrete floor. The pants are crumpled as if they were taken off and abandoned there.

township out of grass, 2022. A weaving with brown warp and green and prairie grass weft is hanging on a white wall, with the weft positioned vertically. The weave structure is a historic overshot pattern called Jefferson's plat that has been modified to resemble the six by six square structure of the township system.
